Dive Boats
Take your scuba diving to a whole new level with a dive boat!
You’ve got the mask, the tank and the flippers. You even have the suit. But, most likely, you’re still not done yet purchasing gear. There’s still one more thing you’ll need to go scuba diving? What is it? It’s a dive boat. The dive boat, while not being a necessity, is something most scuba divers have. It makes it possible for them to go diving whenever they want, wherever they want. Quite simply, the dive boat is one of those things that you don’t have to have, but should have. Not sure what dive boat to get, or even why you should get one? Read on.
What is a Dive Boat?
A dive boat is like most other boats. It is powered by a battery and varies in size. What is different from most other boats, though, is that the dive boat is built for one thing in particular: diving. As such, it is designed to make diving easy, so the design of the boat won’t look like, say, a fishing boat. It will be a boat that is easy for you to enter and exit, making scuba diving a breeze.
Types of Dive Boats
There are two types of dive boats: commercial and private. Commercial dive boats are large dive boats designed to be used by many scuba divers. If you were to go on a scuba diving trip, for instance, you may end up riding in such a boat. Commercial boats are very big, yet still easy to get in and out of.
Private boats, on the other hand, are designed to be used by only a few scuba divers. They are not intended for many scuba divers at once. Private boats are smaller, sometimes so small they are only for one person.
What Sizes?
As previously mentioned, dive boats are either commercial or private. Commercial dive boats will be big because they are meant to accommodate many people at once. Private dive boats will be smaller because they are meant for private use. Commercial dive boats may be up to 100 feet in length, while private dive boats are typically 10-20 feet in length.
Tips for Picking the Right Dive Boat
Because a dive boat is a pretty costly addition to your diving gear, it can be a bit difficult for a person to decide on what one to get. By following the tips below, this process gets significantly easier.
- Size Matters. How many people do you want to go scuba diving with you in this boat? The answer to this question will tell you whether you need a commercial boat, a big private boat or a small private boat. Think a lot about this question because the boat you purchase will be yours for a while (unless you decide to sell it), so it’s not something to take lightly.
- Price. Most scuba divers aren’t rich people. They cannot afford to pay a lot of money for a scuba boat. If you have only limited money to spend on a scuba boat, you will want to closely consider the price of the boat in question.
- Look. Whether they admit it or not, scuba divers are a fashionably sensitive people. They want something that looks good. Scuba boats come in a variety of designs, so you will want to also look at the design on the boat and make sure it is something you like.
