If you were to go diving in a body of water that is heavily used by boaters and other swimmers, you’d probably want your space, right? After all, scuba diving is meant to be performed in a wide-open environment, free of people in close proximity to you. Without a dive flag, you cannot let others know that you are underwater. As a result, they may go way too close to you, not to mention a boat can even injure you if it is big enough and you are close enough to it. Dive flags perform the very important job of telling people that you are there and that they should steer clear of your area of the water, thereby preventing potential injuries.

Picking the right dive flag for you may not always be as straight forward as you might think. It is important, thus, to know what to look for when shopping for a dive flag.
Look for a flag that is bright. People who are passing by may have difficulty seeing a flag that is dark or any shade of blue. That is why it is crucial to look for a flag that is bright and a shade of white, yellow or red. It needs to be highly visible.
Durable. You want to get a dive flag that is durable and will last you a while. Certain flags are made to last a while, while others are not. Go for a flag made out of a durable material.
Read Reviews. Getting other people’s opinions can be a good way of figuring out what flags may be suitable for you. Before buying your flag, make sure it is a quality one by reading some reviews on it.
